Our 06 (56) Ford Fiesta 1.25 Zetec 16v Style Climate Arrives Soon, Listen to it’s story…

our 06 (56) Ford Fiesta 1.25 16v Style Climate has come along way from conception..

Over 30 years ago in 1976 Ford revealed its new creation. Originally code named Project Bobcat, Ford developed the Fiesta, a vehicle that was designed to compete in the European market against modern compact cars like the Fiat 127 and Renault R5.

The new Ford Fiesta was an immediate success and has been in the  'Top 10 best selling cars in Britain' since 1977 – a feat unmatched by any other car.  In 1990, 1991 and 1996 to 1998 the Fiesta was Britain's best selling car outright, and in its best-ever year, 1987, over 150,000 Fiesta models were sold in Britain.

The well proven Zetec (16v) Engine originally launched in 1992 provides impressive fuel economy and low emissions, however today's ultra-clean and environmentally friendly Fiesta puts the early models into perspective. It would, for example, take 50 new Fiestas to produce the same toxic emissions as a single Mk I in 1976. And with the MK VI,  for the first time there are no links to the original 1976 Fiesta, the current version is 85 per cent recyclable, and while the Mk I was notably economical for its era, it could hardly have matched the ability of the current Ford Fiesta to travel the 650 miles from London to Inverness on a single tank of fuel. Today, 30 years on, with well over 12  Million vehicles sold worldwide, the facelift Mk VI version (2005> with a beautifully sculpted exterior restyle, and a new soft-feel dashboard), remains the UK's 'Fifth overall best-selling car in the UK'

The Fiesta’s original competitors The 127, and the R5, since dissolved into obscurity, and clearly didn’t measure up to the Fiesta’s astonishing achievements. Others have similarly stumbled along the way, and with a MK VII in Design, many may continue to do so, this well crafted piece of British Motoring Heritage may have many more stories to tell.
